Questions 4 and 9

Dear Editor:

The League of Women Voters SouthCoast urges voters to vote YES on Ballot Questions 4 and 9 to strengthen our democracy and protect our communities.

YES on Question 4: Make voting more accessible.

Question 4 will allow eligible voters to register on Election Day, ending the arbitrary 10-day registration deadline. It will also give registered voters who encounter a problem at the polls the opportunity to resolve it and cast a ballot that counts. Nearly half the states already offer Election Day registration. It’s time for Massachusetts to join them.

YES on Question 9: Keep Massachusetts safer.

Question 9 will uphold the firearms safety law the Massachusetts Legislature passed in 2024. That law bans ghost guns, prohibits devices that convert semiautomatic firearms into machine guns, modernizes red flag laws, and strengthens violence prevention programs. A YES vote will preserve these critical protections and help keep our communities safe.

Make your voice heard. Protect our communities.

Vote Yes on Question 4 and 9
