William V. “Billy” Kennedy

William V. “Billy” Kennedy, 65, of Mattapoisett passed away Friday October 27, 2017. He was the husband of Beth (Langevin) Kennedy.

Born and raised in Roslindale, he was the son of the late Vincent F. and Mabel E. (Howley) Kennedy. Billy lived in Walpole many years before retiring to Mattapoisett. He also wintered in Largo, Florida.

Billy was a police officer with the Boston Police Department in Area E until his retirement nine years ago. Throughout his career, he served as a motorcycle officer, community service officer, and police prosecutor.

Billy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was well-loved by everyone. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed going to the VFW Post in Dunedin, Florida.

He is survived by his wife Beth; his children, Juli Kennedy-Killion and her husband Keith of Rochester; Timothy Kennedy and his wife Kelly of Middleboro; two sisters, Phyllis (Kennedy) Nadworny and her husband Joseph; Elizabeth (Kennedy) Caulfield and her husband Richard, all of East Bridgewater; and five grandchildren, Chloe, Bree, Meaghan, Bentley, and Sean.

His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday Nov. 4, 2017 at 8 am at St. Anthony’s Church, 22 Barstow St., Mattapoisett. Burial will follow at 10:30 am at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org).
