W. Anthony Allison

W. Anthony Allison, MD (aka Billy, Tony), age 93 of Marion formerly of Hawaii, Philadelphia and North Carolina passed away in his residence with his loving wife by his side. He was the husband of Dale (Muther) Allison with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.

            Born in Durham, NC, a son of the late Willis A. and Lyda (Hammie) Allison, he was a graduate of Hillside High School, Durham and Morgan State College for his undergraduate studies and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany, graduating with a medical degree. He served in the United States Army attaining the rank of Sargent. Tony practiced as a pediatric surgeon at Mercy Douglas Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital in Philadelphia; he also cared for patients with muscular-skeletal disorders for over 20 years in various VA hospitals. He loved his wife and family dearly, enjoyed reading, tennis and playing the piano and classical guitar.

            In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters, Patricia M. Dillard and her husband Gregory of Texas; Vivian A. Shelton and her husband Zachary of Virginia and Anita N. Allison of New York; 6 grandchildren, Gregory III, Lydia and Jeramiah Dillard and Jaden, Sophia and Jewel Shelton.

            His memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 10:00 am in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Fairlawn, 180 Washington Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
