Lawrence A. Parent, age 77 of Marion, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Claire (Cournoyer) Parent to whom he had been happily married for 54 years.
Born in Acushnet, the son of Laurent and Rita (Girard) Parent, he was a longtime resident of Marion. He was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School, class of 1961. Larry loved his family, he had a passion for cars and enjoyed trips to Lime Rock Park to watch the races as well as camping trips. He truly enjoyed his vacation to Alaska. Larry enjoyed being at the Barn visiting with his friends Robert Roy and Norman Arbec.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Mark E. Parent and his wife Sloane of NC and Christopher R. Parent and his wife Jennifer of Acushnet; two daughters, Jacqueline L. Cassidy and her husband Christopher of Fairhaven and Jennifer L. Farias and her companion Michael Donato of Marion; and nine grandchildren, Nicole O’ Brien, Jake and Hannah Farias, Hayden, Ben, Sarah, Reed, Cole and Quinn Parent.
