Gary Proffit, 77, of Rochester, died August 12, 2022, at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Plymouth, after a long illness. He was the husband of Yong (Yong) Proffit and the son of the late Gerald and Louise (Card) Proffit.
He was born in Weymouth and lived in Carver before moving to Rochester. He graduated from Weymouth High School.
Mr. Proffit owned and operated Proffit Construction Company for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union, Local 424 for many years. He was also a Teamster and worked at Nelson Precast in Braintree.
He was a pilot and enjoyed flying his Cessna plane.
Survivors include his wife, Yong (Yong) Proffit; a daughter, Lisa Proffit of Rochester; 2 sons, Steven Proffit and his wife Jennifer of Rochester and Michael Proffit and his wife Kristen of Middleboro; a stepdaughter, Tabitha Bindas and her husband Scott of Rochester; a brother, Bruce Proffit of TX; 2 grandchildren, Zachary and Jake Proffit; 3 step grandchildren, Alexandria, Katelyn and Brooklyn Bindas.
His services will be private.
