Florence Jane (Stinson) Savery

Florence Jane (Stinson) Savery, 95, of Marion passed away, Tuesday, June 4, 2019, in her home of the last 70 years surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born and raised in Marion, the daughter of John J. and Violet (Nunn) Stinson.  She was one of the original working moms and had a long career in social services. She was a proud graduate of Tabor Academy, Class of 1941 and was as smart as she was beautiful.  She was a voracious reader and has a memory like a steel trap and never stopped learning, beating us all regularly at Jeopardy well into her nineties!  Through the years she was active in the North Marion Methodist Church and choir.

We will sorely miss her love and keen sense of humor and always remember her generosity.

She leaves three children, Gloria Bassett and her husband Cliff of Yarmouth, Larry Savery and his wife Betty of Marion and Donald Savery of No. Dartmouth. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Angela, Christopher, Lisa, Larry, Daniel, Leigh and Laureen; eight great grandchildren as well as several cousins in Marion, Hingham and Nova Scotia and many nieces and nephews.

Per her wishes, a private graveside service will be held for immediate family at Old Landing Cemetery, Marion.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements by Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, Wareham.  To leave a message of condolence visit: www.ccgfuneralhome.com
