Edna M. (Meehan) Harrison, 96, of Mattapoisett, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021, at The Cottages at Dartmouth Village. She was the wife of the late Joseph Harrison. Joe and Edna were inseparable for more than 55 years.
Mrs. Harrison worked in retail for many years, many of them at the former Star Store in New Bedford, MA. She enjoyed many friendships and acquaintances that lasted throughout her life. She was a dedicated sender of holiday cards, collecting and cherishing each one she received. She loved her many pets and spending time in the home garden with her family. She was close to her family and loved having them over for a cookout or long drives with Joe to visit them. Being of Irish descent gave her great pride, quick wit, and stunning blue eyes.
Her family includes her daughter Jill Law and her husband Fred of Dartmouth, MA and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra and a son, Edwin Comstock, Jr., along with eight siblings, John, Molly, Betty, Jimmy, Rosemary, Jerry, Jimmy, and Dickie.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday November 17, 2021 at 9:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Humane Society and Shelter – South Coast, 31 Ventura Drive, Dartmouth, MA 02747.
