Weed Control and Private Pier

During the Monday meeting of the Mattapoisett Conservation Commission, several new Notice of Intent filings were featured.

First up was a NOI filed by Raymond Hanks of 18 Crystal Springs Road to receive permitting for the removal of invasive plants, including Japanese Knot Weed and Bittersweet.

After a lengthy discussion with the commissioners and the environmental agent Samantha Carew it was determined that Hanks’ proposal for weed eradication needed further review due to nearby jurisdictional areas on the property. No action was taken at this time.

An NOI filed by the Pratt Family Living Trust,11 Sea Marsh Way for beach nourishment could not be heard as a Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) file number is pending. The filing was continued to June 22.

An NOI filed by the Elizabeth May Cannell Family Trust, was conditioned for the construction of a private pier and boat dock.

The project will require a Chapter 91 waterways license it was noted.

The next meeting of the Mattapoisett Conservation Commission will be held on June 22.
