At their first meeting following the start of summer break across the Tri-Town, the Old Rochester Regional School Committee met on Zoom on July 1, though it was noted Superintendent Michael Nelson was present at Old Rochester Regional for the meeting.
Opening with an Executive Session, the committee quickly held three votes. The committee voted in favor of a Memorandum of Understanding between ORR School Committee and the Rochester Select Board. They approved a donation of $2,002.99 from donor John Menzel for a HP DesignJet T650 printer at ORRHS and two baseball dugouts for Old Rochester Youth Baseball. Finally, they reviewed and approved a budget expenditure of up to $100,000 from the Capital Stabilization Fund for replacement of ORRHS bleachers and floor restoration. Nelson noted the total cost of the project would be roughly $280,000, though the state has pledged to cover much of the bill.
The ORR School Committee adjourned their Executive Session and meeting which was immediately followed by a quick, single-issue meeting of the ORR District Joint School Committee.
The joint school committee began their meeting by appointing Marie Grable as new Superintendent of Student Services.
The next meeting of the ORR School Committee was not scheduled at adjournment.
