The Marion Affordable Housing Trust met on Tuesday, July 14 for talks on working with a nonprofit for dwelling construction as well as the Toll Brothers Inc. housing development proposal.
Following the approval of last meeting’s minutes, Chair Terri Santos moved on to discussions regarding the use of Community Preservation Committee funds for work with Habitat for Humanity, a Christian nonprofit organization focused on building affordable houses both nationally and internationally.
It was noted if the trust approved the use of CPC funds, any actual development would still need to be cleared by voters at Spring Town Meeting. It was also noted a specific project needs to be outlined before funds can be approved, rather than approving first and then planning. The group noted more communication with the organization should proceed before a plan is made, pushing the discussion to the trust’s next meeting.
Toby Burr, Vice Chair of the Select Board and Representative to the AHT, was asked of the Select Board’s status on its review of the 48-unit housing development by Toll Brothers Inc. Burr stated the development has not come up at recent meetings, though they are still currently discussing the reviewing it, to which the AHT pushed for clarifications and a reevaluation of various aspects of the current proposal of the housing project as a whole.
There were no votes held at the meeting, with their next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 11, at 6:00 pm in the Marion Police Station.
