In preparation for Freedom Bells on July 4th, Russ and Wendy Keeler climbed into the attic of the museum formerly known as the East Rochester Congregational Church and oiled and greased our bell that was cast in 1872. It rings (we’re not sure what the bats in the belfry thought about that). We’re encouraging people to join us at 355 County Road on July 4th, beginning at 11:30 am. If you have a handbell, bring it along to join in. We’ll have a few on hand. At noon sharp, we’ll toll the bell 13 times along with bells throughout the country. We’ll have water and ice cream cups to finish the celebration, and then you can join in with other Rochester July 4th activities.
Our new exhibit, Rochester and the Revolution, will be opening in July, so stay tuned.
