Tri-County Symphonic Band

The Tri-County Symphonic Band, under the direction of Philip Sanborn, begins their 58th season with a generous helping of “All That Jazz.” The Sunday, October 20 concert includes selections from a variety of genres of music we consider jazz of the 20th and 21st centuries and will be held at the Fireman Performing Arts Center on the campus of Tabor Academy. Alto saxophonist extraordinaire, Marcus Monteiro, will join the band as the featured soloist. The concert will also include a performance by the Old Rochester Regional High School Jazz Band. Fifty percent of the online ticket sales (BrownPaperTickets.com) from this concert will benefit the Friends of Old Rochester Music Association.

            The Annual Children’s Christmas Concert, free of charge, will be staged at the Sippican School on Sunday, December 8 with the help of the Sippican School Concert Choir under the direction of Patricia Richard.

            From the exhilarating operatic music of Rossini to the concert band masterpieces of Alfred Reed to the newer and more explorative works of Elizabeth Raum, The Tri-County Symphonic Band will explore the varied repertoire in a concert entitled “Rossini, Reed and Raum.” Bass Trombonist Angel Subero will perform the challenging “Concerto for Bass Trombone” by Elizabeth Raum in the Dartmouth High School Auditorium on Sunday, February 9.

            The Tri-County Symphonic Band presents a tribute to the march at Tabor Academy on Sunday, March 22, 2020. The concert is called “Celebrating the March” and features marches from around the world. There will be marches that everyone knows and marches only the real aficionados will have heard before. We will also have a euphonium concerto by David Paff.

            The Tri-County Symphonic Band’s 18th Annual Benefit Pops Concert will be held at Tabor Academy on June 7, 2020 at 2:00 pm, in a grand tent, and will feature the movie music of the of the iconic film composer and former Boston Pops conductor, John Williams.
