Angelica Yacht Club, located on Point Connett, is Mattapoisett’s other yacht club. Racing started in Beetle Cats, going as far back as the 1930s. Now Sunfish is the class of boat. Racing starts off Tuttle Pier every Sunday, weather permitting. The Beginners Division starts first, and the kids are swapped out every couple of races so everyone gets some racing in. Parents can watch from the pier as the kids sail the course. There is also an Open class for all ages to participate after the kids are done. The season begins on 4th of July and finishes on Labor Day Weekend with a cookout and awards. All the beginners had a great time, especially when it came time to get their awards.
Participants this year in the Beginners class were Murphy Warren, Declan Warren, Teddy Asci, Finn Asci, Emily Warren, Nina Kane, Tommy Warren, Alana Kane, Mackenzie Aarsheim, Quinn Aldridge, Owen Aldridge, Mara Wiedel, Gus Weidel and Charlie Touhey.
