Yaeger Scholarship Award Winner

In the 49th year of the Yaeger Music Scholarship, the committee is pleased to announce three awards to help talented music students further their instruction in musical performance or music education or musical therapy on the college and graduate level at an accredited institution.

Koby Williamson from Mattapoisett is a student at Mannes College of Music in New York City.  Williamson studies classical guitar as well as composition, and is in his second year pursuing a bachelor of music degree.  He plans to continue his studies for a master’s degree in composition.

The scholarship is named for Mr. Clement L. Yaeger, an enthusiastic music lover.  He was a resident of Fairhaven and worked as a librarian for the New Bedford Public librarian for 51 years before retiring in 1945 as a Chief Assistant Librarian.  The scholarship was established in 1963 as a result of his will leaving money for scholarships to assist talented students in the fields of music, art, and library work.
