Doug has been a good friend of many years … a partner in crime, craziness and outrageous laughter! Mark and I are so saddened by his passing.

Hi Randy, I’m glad someone was able to reach you. I’m still processing this heartbreaking news. Doug and I had arranged to have lunch the day he passed. I spoke with another ‘BZ colleague, Jack Stokinger, and we both reflected on crazy, wonderful times spent with Doug. He is gone far too soon. Hope you and Mark are well.

In 2006 I met Doug at the farmers market located near South Station. Doug was assisting Dave Gilsen and we all became Members of the farmers market extended family.
Doug and I worked together at the Falmouth and Provincetown farmers market and we both retired from the farmers market family in Provincetown just barely two years ago. If anyone needed a helping hand Doug was there. A kind and supporting hand was always available to me and those who needed it within our family of farmers markets.
As many dog owners found, Doug’s kindness was also shared by our four legged friends. Owners with their beloved pets would always find a fresh bowl of water and health treat when approaching Doug’s tent.
What a wonderful smile and abundance of positive human energy.
Many of us will miss you Doug but you will live on in the minds of so many because you were who you were.

I am so saddened to learn of Dougie’s passing today. My daughter and I also worked markets with Doug (Chatham, PTown, Osterville) and we became good friends though we had not been in touch since the early days of the pandemic. I celebrated a big birthday in November and my daughter reached out to invite him to my surprise party. He never responded and now, sadly, we know why. We loved Doug. He was a good man and we will miss him. My condolences to all of his family members, including Dave Gilson.

I am so shocked and devastated to hear of Doug’s passing! I had just tried texting and calling him and it failed to go through and now I know why. He was the nicest, kindest man and totally enjoyed his company whenever we got together. We will miss his friendship and humor. May he Rest in Peace and hope that we can attend the celebration of his life if it hasn’t taken place already. See you later, my friend.

I met Doug WAY back in the mid 1970’s. He became one of those friends that I either saw all the time, or on odd and infrequent occasions. It’s been a number of years since our last get together – at his home in Bethlehem, NH, far too many years ago. I’d occasionally look him up and make a phone call to catch up, but I cannot recall the last time we spoke or saw one another – although every time I’d update my address book I’d think to myself that I need to give him another call. My last attempts to reach him went unanswered, so I figured I’d just try again ‘later’. In a ‘worst case scenario’, I just did an internet obituary search, and I am very saddened that I didn’t keep in better touch. Extending Michael’s and my deepest condolences to his family and friends. I hope to learn of his Celebration of Life when the time comes.

A brilliant videographer and editor; Doug brought to life the words on our investigative reporting scripts. Part of the Emmy I have sitting on my bookshelf belongs to him and the other members of the WBZ TV I-Team.
