He was the loved son of Fr. Philip C. Jacobs III, OGS, and the late Phebe A. Jacobs. He was the cherished brother of Gerald A. Jacobs and his wife, Christine Fegan, and of Rachel K. Jacobs-Hodson and her husband, Jerald M. Hodson II. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as a wide circle of friends who will remember him with affection and gratitude. Family was central to Chad’s life, and he took quiet pride in the bonds he shared with them through the years.
A former resident of Lewiston, Maine, Chad remained connected to the communities that shaped him. He graduated from Fairhaven High School with the Class of 1989 and carried with him the values of dedication, responsibility, and quiet generosity that defined him throughout his life. Chad possessed a true gift for cooking and found meaningful work as a chef with the Salvation Army Corps, St. Luke’s Hospital, and New Bedford Hospital—where his grandmother had once served as a nurse. For him, work in the kitchen was never merely a job; it was an expression of care. He took pride in preparing meals that brought comfort, nourishment, and joy to others. He generously shared his talents by cooking for countless community events and fundraisers, where his skill, kindness, and good humor were always appreciated.
He was also known for his love of gardening and his natural talent for making the world around him more beautiful. Chad decorated for every season, bringing color, warmth, and a sense of celebration to his home and to all who were fortunate enough to experience his creative touch. His attention to detail and delight in simple seasonal traditions reflected the thoughtful, gentle nature so many admired in him.
Chad will be remembered as a devoted son, a loving brother, a caring uncle and great-uncle, and a loyal friend. His life was one of service, creativity, and generosity. He touched many lives through both his work and his everyday kindness. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, and he will be deeply missed.
