Rochester Council on Aging

The Rochester Memorial School Jazz Band is performing at the Rochester Senior Center on Friday, May 24from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. There will be a BBQ luncheon after the concert. This is the first BBQ of the season and a sure sign of spring. All are welcome to attend the concert and BBQ lunch. Please sign up in advance by calling the Senior Center at 508-763-8723. A donation of $5.00 is appreciated.

            The Rochester Council on Aging will host the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on Friday, May 31from 11:30 am – 2:00 pm. Volunteers will receive invitations in the mail. Please remember to RSVP. Appetizers, catered lunch, entertainment, and awards will be given. A complete list of volunteers is included in the May Newsletter which can be found on the Senior Center’s website, www.rochestermaseniorcenter.com. The Senior Center is always looking for new volunteers. If you think you might like to be involved, call the Senior Center at 508-763-8723. 

            Volunteers Needed. Breakfast cooks, dishwashers, food servers, and substitutes for all roles. The Senior Center is also looking for volunteers to help with lunches and special events. Volunteers of all kinds are always welcome. 

            The Rochester Senior Center is temporarily without a SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs for Elders) Counselor Volunteer. If you need to speak with a SHINE Counselor, please feel free to contact the Middleboro COA at 508-946-2490. Check back with us in a few months.

            Friday Movies. Recently released movies are shown at the Rochester Senior Center on Fridays at 1:30 pm. Movies are shown on a wall mounted 60” plasma TV screen. This is a free event and all are welcome. Information about weekly movies is posted on the Senior Center’s Facebook page no later than the Thursday prior to the movie. www.Facebook.com/rochestercoa.

            The next day trip is Tuesday, May 28. The Senior Center will be going to the new Tiverton Casino in Tiverton, RI. The bus leaves at 9:00 am and will return around 4:00 pm. Please contact the Senior Center in advance to reserve a seat on the bus.

            The Rochester Senior Center will be closed on Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day.

            RIDES: We provide free transportation for Rochester residents. Please call for a ride with one of our friendly drivers at least 24 hours in advance so we can schedule a driver.
