The Marine Renewable Energy Collaborative (MRECo) is pleased to welcome its Summer 2026 interns Parker Darphin, Alan Schneider, and Jillian Yang who will support the organization’s marine renewable energy initiatives, technology development, and outreach efforts throughout the summer.
MRECo’s internship program provides students and recent graduates with hands-on experience in ocean technology, engineering, and renewable energy while contributing directly to projects that advance sustainable marine energy solutions.
Parker Darphin is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Mississippi State University and is pursuing a master’s degree in Energy Engineering with a Nuclear concentration at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Before graduate school, Parker spent four years at Austal USA designing piping and HVAC systems for U.S. Navy and Coast Guard vessels. This summer, he will support MRECo’s work at the Bourne Tidal Test Site by helping prepare ocean-energy systems and testing platforms for deployment and operation.
Alan Schneider is a dual Electrical and Computer Engineering student at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and serves as vice president of the university’s IDEA Club, which supports student-led engineering and innovation projects.
With experience in LEGO Robotics, VEX Robotics, and personal engineering projects such as his modular handheld PC, “EverDeck,” Alan brings strong design and prototyping experience to MRECo. This summer, he will assist with system design, fabrication, and testing for marine renewable energy projects.
Jillian Yang, originally from Framingham and now based in Marion, recently graduated from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing. Continuing her internship with MRECo, Jillian supports the organization’s marketing and communications efforts. This summer, she will focus on social media strategy, content development, media outreach, and public awareness initiatives that highlight MRECo’s renewable energy projects and partnerships.

The Marine Renewable Energy Collaborative (MRECo) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing marine renewable energy and ocean technology in Massachusetts. Since 2018, MRECo has managed the Bourne Tidal Test Site in the Cape Cod Canal, supporting the testing of tidal energy devices, sensors, and marine monitoring systems. Through partnerships with industry, government, and academia, MRECo provides critical infrastructure that accelerates innovation, supports economic growth, and advances clean ocean-energy solutions.
