Elizabeth Taber Library Welcomes New YA Librarian

The Elizabeth Taber Library is pleased to announce the appointment of Alex Correia, MLIS, as the library’s new Young Adult Librarian.

While pursuing his Master of Library and Information Science, Alex discovered his passion for teen services through an internship at the Medway Public Library. During his time there, he assisted in planning and hosting a range of community programs, helped with makerspace activities, and was involved in the summer reading program. Alex also has experience supporting students from his most recent work at the Bristol Community College Library.

Alex brings a strong foundational knowledge and positive energy to the Elizabeth Taber Library. He looks forward to reinvigorating teen programming with new opportunities for local teens to connect, learn and explore their interests. Residents are encouraged to keep an eye out for upcoming programs geared toward teens ages 13 to 18.

Alex will also support the library’s teen volunteer program, offering opportunities to earn volunteer hours while becoming more involved in the library community. In addition, he is passionate about meeting the informational and entertainment needs of teens through the expansion of the library collection. Alex particularly looks forward to refreshing and expanding the library’s manga offerings.

“We are so lucky to have Alex joining the team. His enthusiasm, education and experience made him a great choice for this role, and I am confident that he will be a strong asset to the library and town,” said Kayla King, library director.

The Elizabeth Taber Library is committed to creating a vibrant, welcoming space for residents of all ages. By expanding programs, services and collections for young adults, the library hopes to strengthen its connection with Marion’s young people and continue serving as an integral part of the community.
