Tuesday, August 18 at noon – Bubbles with Mr. Vinny: Celebrate the library’s 50th anniversary with one of our favorite programs: Bubbles with Mr. Vinny. No registration required. This children’s event will be held outside on the library’s lawn.
Thursday, August 20 at 5:00 pm – 50th Anniversary Talk with Richard Cutler: Joseph H. Plumb and Car Collecting (all ages): Joseph H. Plumb and his wife, Dorothy Plumb, were enthusiastic antique car collectors. Hear from local car expert Richard Cutler and take a look at an antique car for yourself. Before there was GPS, people used road maps. Before there were road maps, they used… (Come to the talk and find out how you found your way from Mattapoisett to Boston.)
Saturday, August 22 at noon – 50th Anniversary Plaque Dedication Ceremony (all ages): The Rochester Historic Commission will be presenting a plaque to the Joseph H. Plumb Memorial Library in honor of our 50th anniversary, almost exactly 50 years from when Plumb Library opened on August 18, 1976, and 150 years from when the Rochester Free Public Library opened on August 19, 1876. Celebrate with us.
