The Silent Book Club returns on Thursday, May 1, at 2:00 pm in the upstairs Reading Rooms. Participants will enjoy delicious treats, tea, and quiet time to read. Relax with friends, acquaintances, and strangers while learning about your next interesting book. Due to space limitations, the club will be limited to 20 readers. The Friends of Mattapoisett Library Annual Meeting takes place on Saturday, May 3, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the library. The gathering will include an election of new Board Officers, the annual financial report, and a look back at their accomplishments over the past year. They’re also thrilled to welcome keynote speaker, Michelle Cusolito — award-winning author of Flying Deep and Diving Deep. Light refreshments will be served. The Friends encourage all members to attend and take part in shaping the future of the organization. It promises to be a fascinating and inspiring afternoon. Join local author and Sci-Fi Speaker Richard Cutler on Saturday, May 10 at 1:00 pm as he discusses “The Misconceptions of Science Fiction.” Cutler will also read a few sections from his books and offer signed copies – no registration required.

Well-Read Wednesday meets on Wednesday, May 28, at 6:30 pm in the Marine room. The club will discuss The New Guys: The Historic Class of Astronauts That Broke Barriers and Changed the Face of Space Travel by Meredith Bagby. Copies of the book are available for pickup at the library. New members welcome.
