September is full of engaging programs at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library, located at 7 Barstow Street.
Come to MFPL for a weekly Literary Cafe every Thursday morning from 11:00 am to noon. Enjoy coffee and tea, discuss books you’re reading, get new book recommendations, and more. This is a great way to connect with the community, engage with the library and improve your reading journey. No registration is required; just drop in.
Join us for the first Open Makerspace session at MFPL on September 5 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Get familiar with the space, or get certified to use the 3D printer, circuits and more. No registration is required; just drop in. This program is open to adults, young adults, and children accompanied by an adult.
Calling all writers. The MFPL Writing Group meets on September 8 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm this month. The group will do a combination of brief writing exercises, progress check-ins, out-loud readings of work, peer reviews and silent writing. No registration is required; just drop in.
Are you a Mayflower descendant? Come to the Mattapoisett Free Public Library and learn how to find out. Hear a presentation on September 8 at 5:00 pm, by Pamela Larsen, Mayflower Society staff genealogist. Bring your lineage, and, time permitting, Ms. Larsen will help attendees with search suggestions. Free and open to all; no registration is required.
You are invited to the very first meeting of the Fantasy Book Club at MFPL, on September 9 at 6:00 pm. The first meeting will be dedicated to choosing which fantasy books this group will read over the next few months. Come prepared with some suggestions and be ready to discuss options. The group will continue to meet one Wednesday per month. No registration is required; just drop in.
Take a break from the busyness of your day and join health coach and mindfulness teacher Lauren Masse for a peaceful 30-minute mindfulness and meditation session on September 11 at noon. Whether you’re new to meditation or have practiced before, this class offers a welcoming space to slow down, breathe and reconnect with the present moment. Join in person or virtually. Registration is optional.
Join us for an Adult Craft Workshop on September 12 at 1:00 pm. Create a unique, fall-themed garland, with step-by-step guidance from a librarian. All supplies are provided, and registration is required.
