Veterans Day will be observed on Wednesday, November 11, with ceremonies and other activities planned throughout the Tri-Town area.
Marion: The Annual Marion Veterans Day Ceremony will be held at Old Landing Veterans Park on Front Street on Wednesday, November 11 at 11:00 am. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will move to the Sippican School Multipurpose Room. Our guest speaker is Tri-Town Veterans Service Officer Lieutenant Christopher P. Gerrior, U.S. Navy (Retired).
The Sippican School Band, led by Jennifer Estacio, will perform patriotic selections. Please join the Town of Marion as we honor our Veterans at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center; the Marion Council on Aging will host a luncheon on November 11 at noon for veterans, active-duty service members, spouses and guests. Please RSVP by November 6 by calling 508-748-3570.
Mattapoisett: The Tri-Town Veterans’ Office, with support from the American Legion Post 280 and the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club, will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Wednesday, November 11.
The community event begins outside the Mattapoisett Center School (17 Barstow St. in Mattapoisett) at 10:45 am. Following the traditional nationwide ringing of the bells at 11:00 am, the ceremony will move indoors for the remainder of the program.
The event will feature remarks from town officials and guest speakers, alongside musical entertainment by the Showstoppers and The Old Hammondtown Band. All veterans, their families and community members are warmly encouraged to attend to help recognize those who have served. This event is free and open to the public.
Rochester: The Tri-Town Veterans’ Office and the Rochester Events Committee cordially invite local veterans and residents to a Community Coffee and Light Breakfast on Wednesday, November 11. The gathering will take place from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at the Rochester Council on Aging, 67 Dexter Lane, Rochester.
This free event offers a heartwarming opportunity for Rochester neighbors and veterans to connect, share stories, and express collective gratitude for those who served in the Armed Forces. The breakfast is intentionally scheduled early so attendees can easily participate in other Veterans Day ceremonies and events throughout the day.
Also, the students at Rochester Christian Learning Center are hosting “Coffee and Donuts” for veterans on Wednesday, November 11, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. All are welcome to attend this yearly community service event of food, song, and, most importantly, honoring area heroes. The event will be held in the fellowship hall of the First Congregational Church of Rochester. It is located at 11 Constitution Way, Rochester. Please RSVP at RochesterChristianLC@gmail.com
