America is big, but our dreams and hopes are bigger. Throughout history we have used our voices to fight for what is right. We continue to do so every day. We make our voices clear. We don’t need to use violence; we can fight instead with our voice.
Abraham Lincoln who once proclaimed, “A house divided against itself cannot stand; we must find a way to work together.”
Susan B. Anthony who once proclaimed, “Men, their rights, and nothing more; woman, their rights, and nothing less.”
Marther Luther King Jr. who once proclaimed, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; Only light can do that.”
Cesar Chavez who once proclaimed, “The fight is never about grapes or lettuce; it’s always about the people.”
America was built not only by presidents and generals, but also by activists, workers, and ordinary citizens who stood for their beliefs. They used their voices to vote, to demand working wage, and to fight to keep America together.
Today, on our semi-quincentennial I use my voice to remind us that our voices are important! Let us raise our voices together and shine!
