Clare Marie (Murphy) Hartford

Clare Marie (Murphy) Hartford, of Mattapoisett, formerly Randolph, passed away unexpectedly on November 6, 2021, at the age of 59. Born in Boston, Clare grew up in Randolph, MA. She was a strong, vivacious, gorgeous woman who would give the world to help the ones she loved. She was insanely articulate, witty, and held many joys of life close to her such as: walking on the beach, collecting sea glass, and decorating her home like the treasure it is. She enjoyed laughing with the ones she loved, reading autobiographies, listening to live music, and firing off witty puns. Clare changed the life of every person she met with her deep understanding of others and strong, positive outlook on life. She was a talented artist, horse lover, wonderful cook, incredible mother, and friend. No matter where she was or what was happening, Clare would find a way to make you genuinely laugh and forget about whatever troubles you had. A devoted mother, friend, sister, cousin, and inspiration, Clare will be deeply missed by all of those whose lives were touched by her powerful presence. Clare is survived by her significant other Scott Cubellis; three daughters Courtney Hartford, Shannon Hartford, and Megan Hartford. Sister of Thomas Murphy, Brian Murphy, Joan Murphy, Christopher Murphy, and Mark Murphy. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Clare will be forever remembered as the vibrant, joyous energy that she brought into this world. She is predeceased by her parents, Peggy and Thomas Murphy; and her former husband, Albert “Butch” Hartford.

            Her funeral will be held Friday, November 12th, at 9 am in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Road, Mattapoisett. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s Church will follow at 10 am. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4-8 pm. Private burial will take place at a later date.
