Adult Events at the Mattapoisett Library

Check out these exciting August and September programs at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library (MFPL), located at 7 Barstow Street.

The MFPL is hosting a Plant Swap on August 22 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Pass along plants you don’t have space for or spruce up your plant collection. Bring any healthy, pest-free plants to trade. Plants should be easy to carry and properly planted. If possible, please clearly label your plant type. No registration required; stop by anytime.

Join us for a Sunset Cinema Movie Showing on the MFPL Lawn on August 26 at 7:00 pm. Watch The Lego Movie (2014). Bring a blanket or chairs to lounge on, and some snacks, to fully enjoy the movie experience.

The last Picnic Book Club of the summer will be August 28 at 10:00 am. Gather on the library lawn for a literary conversation, pastries, and beverages. Bring any book that you are currently reading and come ready to discuss it. Please register to reserve your spot.

Did you know the Mattapoisett Library has a Genealogy Roundtable group that meets at the library the first Wednesday of the month from 5:45 pm to 7:30 pm? This month’s meeting will take place on September 2. They have a different topic each month and you can come to one or all of them. Contact Robbin at the library for additional info.

Take a break from the busyness of your day and join health coach and mindfulness teacher Lauren Masse for a peaceful 30-minute mindfulness and meditation session on Friday, September 11, at noon. Whether you’re new to meditation or have practiced before, this class offers a welcoming space to slow down, breathe and reconnect with the present moment. Join in person or virtually. Registration is optional.

Eric Jay Dolin’s Author Talk has been rescheduled for September 16 at 5:30 pm. Eric will discuss his 2022 publication Rebels at Sea: Privateering in the American Revolution and hold a Q&A with attendees. This program is supported by a grant from the Mattapoisett Cultural Council, a local agency that is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. Registration is optional.
