Nov 15, 2011
TBA
Relay For Life of the Tri Town will join over 5,200 other Relay events across the nation in celebrating the ones that have survived, remembering those that we have lost and fighting back against cancer. The Relay For Life of the Tri-Town will begin the planning stages of this event on November 15 at Old Rochester Regional High School Library on 135 Marion Road, Mattapoisett, MA 02739. Relay will carry the message to the people of our community on June 8 and 9, 2012 at Old Rochester Regional High School. Help create more birthdays and bring an end to cancer. Last year, the Tri-Town Relay for Life raised a fundraising record of $84,000 and you can help!
Everyone in the community is encouraged to take part in fighting the battle against cancer and hear how they can make a difference in what has become the largest single non-profit organization in the world. For more information, please call Heather at 774-634-9301 or email the event at tritownrelay@comcast.net. You can also follow the group on Facebook or Twitter at Tri-Town Relay. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relay For Life is an overnight event that lasts up to 24 hours.

Other cities followed New York’s example and this marked the beginning of the safety laws and codes that are still in place today.

The cast includes senior Scotlyn Adler as Rose, senior, Mikayla Florio as Isabel, junior Alex Milde as Max, senior Megan Pierce as Malena, and senior Rachel Vincent as Sophie. 7:00 p.m.
You are cordially invited to join us for our Second Annual Hymn-Sing at the North Rochester Congregational Church at 247 North Avenue, to be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2011. This year’s hymn-sing is presented by music director Nancy Sparklin. You will enjoy singing your favorite hymns of this festive season, and to add a special flavor to the evening, a sprinkling of delightful seasonal pieces will be presented by vocalists Charles and Margaret Chace, Sheila Furtado, and Kimberly and Richard Teves. The story of Jesus’ birth will also be told.
The wreaths have been hung high on the two-story historic windows, the candles will be lit and the atmosphere casual, warm and cozy as we enjoy the sounds of the season. The hymn-sing will conclude with the congregation joining together to sing by candlelight “Silent Night” and, as always at North Rochester Congregational Church, the evening will include refreshments provided by the members of our church - maybe even wassail!
Take an evening off from the busyness of this season to enjoy the warmth and friendship in the historical North Rochester Congregational Church – it’s that beautiful, white-steepled church on the hill! Everyone is invited and there is no charge.
If you have any questions, you may reach Nancy Sparklin at 508-763-2327.
