SLT Oyster Fest 419 viewsThe Sippican Lands Trust’s Beer and Oyster Fest fundraiser was a hit despite the threat of approaching Hurricane Dorian, which was replaced with blue skies just in time, and holding the event earlier in the day mitigated the guests’ exposure to EEE-carrying mosquitos. Marion Natural History Museum419 viewsOn Wednesday, October 23 the Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool group went on a fall nature walk looking for signs of fall. One lucky student found an owl pellet under a tree! We were able to find burrows, nests, and even a small snake hiding under a log. We observed the different colors of the leaves of trees and shrubs and looked for mushrooms. It was great to spend such a beautiful fall day with these inquisitive kids!

Block Party!418 viewsIt was a little earlier than usual, but the annual Marion Block Party on August 28, 2010 went off without a hitch. Children enjoyed cotton candy, a bounce house and face-painting, while the grown-ups enjoyed conversation and good weather. World Flutes Ensemble418 viewsMembers of the World Flutes Ensemble will participate in the National Flute Association’s cabaret in Las Vegas, Nevada next week. Locals enjoyed hearing the music they will play at the convention on Sunday in Marion. Members include Amy Conti, Bhrigu Sahni, Ana Barreiro, Shota Ishikawa, Max McKellar, Wendy Rolfe & Kazuyo Kuriya.

The public was welcome to tour the facilities, and children enjoyed exploring all the engines available at the station. Donuts, coffee, and a hot breakfast were all offered courtesy of the fire department. An antique engine even offered a ride around the village. Photo by Anne O'Brien-Kakley
