Marion 5K439 viewsApproximately 448 runners participated in the 14th Annual Marion Village 5K on June 26, 2010. The community race raised approximately $6,000 for the Marion Recreational Committee that maintains playground equipment, baseball fields and otherwise enhances the recreational opportunities in Marion. 22-year old Brendan Medeiros of Fall River finished in first place with a time of 16:47. Marion Natural History Museum439 viewsOn November 14, the Marion Natural History Museum's after-school group enjoyed learning about what it takes to become a geologist and a paleontologist. We tried out some of the equipment and discussed working conditions. We learned about the three different types of rocks – sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic, and how they form, and inspected various rocks and minerals and fossils presenter Jim Pierson has collected over the years.
