Art in Bloom 511 viewsThe Marion Art Center’s Art in Bloom opened on Friday, organizers and volunteers gathered Friday afternoon to prepare the exhibit. Works by Mary Jane McCoy and Arthur Kvarnstrom will be paired with interpretative floral arrangements by members of the Marion Garden Discussion Group. Art in Bloom runs through July 13. The turnout exceeded past Kids Equipment Fun Day events in Marion, especially last year’s, which was repeatedly postponed and then canceled altogether. Marion Natural History Museum511 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum had a great time learning how to identify some of our rare turtles and what to do if we find one. We found out which is our smelliest turtle and which can close up into a "box" so tight you can't even slip a piece of paper between its shell. The students had a chance to get up close with a diamondback terrapin, an Eastern box turtle, and an enormous Plymouth red-bellied cooter.
