Whale Watch479 viewsOn December 2, a small, curious humpback whale surfaced in Marion between Nye’s Wharf and Ram Island. Long-time residents of the town couldn’t remember a prior whale sighting. The animal looked to be about 20 feet long. Marion resident Michael Moore guessed from its size that the whale was young -- and a sight that young humans would not want to miss. Just before dismissal, students at Sippican School heard the voice of Hannah Moore, their music direction, over the intercom. Photo by by Barbara Ann Markel

Fun with Pollination478 viewsAt the last Cranberry after-school program participants from the Natural History Museum learned about pollinators on the bog. The kids got a chance to see how difficult it is to jump in waders, a job requirement for most bog workers. Many thanks to Dawn Allen of the Cape Cod Cranberry Growers Association for her wonderful programs - and free snacks! The next after-school program will be "Nature Crafts" - a holiday workshop and party at the museum on December 14th at 3:30.
