Marion Natural History Museum 494 viewsOn August 8, the Marion Natural History Museum hosted Amy Kukulya, a research engineer with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and one of the lead authorities on the SharkCam research vehicle. Kukulya spoke about the science of tagging great white sharks and shared video footage as a SharkCam was repeatedly attacked by a shark; yet, with only a dent, survived to continue following and monitoring these incredible animals.

Marion Natural History Museum493 viewsOn November 14, the Marion Natural History Museum's after-school group enjoyed learning about what it takes to become a geologist and a paleontologist. We tried out some of the equipment and discussed working conditions. We learned about the three different types of rocks – sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic, and how they form, and inspected various rocks and minerals and fossils presenter Jim Pierson has collected over the years.
