Marion Natural History Museum 622 viewsOn August 8, the Marion Natural History Museum hosted Amy Kukulya, a research engineer with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and one of the lead authorities on the SharkCam research vehicle. Kukulya spoke about the science of tagging great white sharks and shared video footage as a SharkCam was repeatedly attacked by a shark; yet, with only a dent, survived to continue following and monitoring these incredible animals.

The GBBC is a great citizen-science initiative to gauge how our bird species are doing, and all it takes is 15 minutes to count the number of species and how many of each, and submit your findings to Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) website: birdcount.org. Cushing Post 2425 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Antiques Annual619 viewsThe Sippican Historical Society hosted their 17th Annual Marion Antiques Show this past weekend at Tabor Academys Fish Athletic Center. The event is the groups main fundraiser each year, kicking off with a with a gala preview party on Friday, August 14. SLT Oyster Fest 619 viewsThe Sippican Lands Trust’s Beer and Oyster Fest fundraiser was a hit despite the threat of approaching Hurricane Dorian, which was replaced with blue skies just in time, and holding the event earlier in the day mitigated the guests’ exposure to EEE-carrying mosquitos.
