SLT Oyster Fest 575 viewsThe Sippican Lands Trust’s Beer and Oyster Fest fundraiser was a hit despite the threat of approaching Hurricane Dorian, which was replaced with blue skies just in time, and holding the event earlier in the day mitigated the guests’ exposure to EEE-carrying mosquitos. Pizza with Santa575 viewsThe Marion Police Brotherhood held its annual Pizza with Santa at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center on Sunday, December 8. ‘Chief’ Santa and Mrs. Claus entertained the little ones before enjoying a pizza lunch. The Police Department’s “Fill a Cruiser” toy drive was in full gear as well, with several guests bringing toy donations to benefit children in foster care. Photos by Jean Perry

Painting Party574 viewsFriends, neighbors and family of Curtis Doherty joined forces with the Marion DPW to spruce up the Silvershell Beach bath house in Marion over the past several weekends, painting it with environmentally-friendly, low VOC paint. Curtis spent countless hours over his lifetime on Silvershell Beachs basketball court which flanks the bathhouse. Last year, teammates and friends designed and constructed granite and wood benches for the basketball court in Curtis memory.
