1st Congregational Church of Marion168 viewsThe 1st Congregational Church of Marion staged a group of youngsters to perform their annual Christmas Nativity. The children enjoyed a much-deserved celebration with Christmas food and cookies, and excitement filled the air with the singing of carols and the making of a beautiful nativity scene that they take home to set under their Christmas trees. A sincere thank you to all the parents and grandparents for their dedicated support. Photo courtesy of Raquel G. Macfarlane

Marion Village Christmas Stroll168 viewsThe Marion Village Christmas Stroll was this past cold and snowy Sunday. Santa and Ms. Clause arrived by their usual boat, though the cold and the wind sure made it look difficult to dock. Excited kids hurled snowballs all around (and at each other) as they waited for St. Nick. Photo by Sam Bishop

Marion Natural History Museum 163 viewsOn Friday evening, the Marion Natural History Museum hosted Dr. Kathryn Kavanagh of UMass Dartmouth’s biology department. Speaking on Humpback whales, Dr. Kavanagh covered several stages, including giving birth (tail first), and how male humpbacks shield the mother while she’s giving birth by creating a bubble-net screen. She also mentioned at what point the young are the most vulnerable to entanglement and boat strikes. Many thanks to Dr. Kavanagh for her fascinating talk. Photo courtesy Elizabeth Leidhold
