The kids found painted turtles, a garter snake, bull frog tadpoles, green frog tadpoles and salamander larvae. Arts in the Park125 viewsThe Marion Art Center held its annual Arts in the Park event on Saturday at Bicentennial Park. The jury-vetted assemblage of artisans surrounded the Elizabeth Taber statue and welcomed shoppers for their goods, while attendees also enjoyed goodies from a nearby food truck and live entertainment from the doorsteps of the MAC. Marion Natural History Museum124 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's July Coastal Exploration group had a fun week exploring some of Marion's natural areas. We examined green frog tadpoles and a frog metamorphosis, were invited to explore Ram Island, visited the donkeys and learned about filter feeders, including some of the largest ones like whales. We explored a salt marsh, cleaned up a rocky beach at Planting Island and removed the plastic waste from the wrack line before it entered or reentered the bay. Photo courtesy of Elizabeth Leid

Halloween Parade124 viewsThe streets of Marion were flooded with Halloween Parade participants and attendees, as members of the Sippican Elementary School Band helped the “witches” of the Marion Art Center lead a procession that began at the Music Hall and went down Front Street, up Main Street past the Elizabeth Taber statue and onto Spring Street, where children were met at Town House by staff members handing out candy for the kids. St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church 124 viewsSt. Gabriel's Episcopal Church of Marion friends and families gathered after the morning service to make advent wreaths. An advent wreath is a circle of greenery, marked by four candles that represent the four Sundays of the season of Advent. An additional candle is lit as each new Sunday is celebrated in Advent. Nolanfest124 viewsNearing the fifth anniversary of the passing of Nolan Gibbons, Nolanfest 2025 was held at Silvershell Beach this past Saturday evening. Hundreds were in attendance to pay tribute, remember, and support local singers and musical artists. Over 20 different performances occurred at the stage, including The Showstoppers, of which Nolan was a member beginning in 2014 at the age of nine. The event was free but saw numerous donations to the Nolan Gibbons Memorial Fund which goes towards supporting artists through

St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church123 viewsOn February 21, St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in Marion celebrated Fat Tuesday with a Mardi Gras party. We ate delicious food and played lots of great games. Many thanks to the Youth Group for all their hard work preparing the evening’s Louisiana-style foods and for leading the games. Marion Natural History Museum123 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s after school group wishes to thank Michael and Hannah Moore for allowing us to explore their wonderful island. We learned how to recognize different shellfish and crabs, as well as some of the various salt marsh plants. We also had fun visiting with a couple of friendly donkeys during our exploration. Thank you for sharing this experience with our group. Museum open hours are Wednesday and Friday all day as well as some Saturday hours (please call ahead first).
