Halloween Parade189 viewsThe streets of Marion were flooded with Halloween Parade participants and attendees, as members of the Sippican Elementary School Band helped the “witches” of the Marion Art Center lead a procession that began at the Music Hall and went down Front Street, up Main Street past the Elizabeth Taber statue and onto Spring Street, where children were met at Town House by staff members handing out candy for the kids. Marion Natural History Museum188 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum hosted Valentina Lagomarsino, PhD student in the Biological Biomedical Sciences program at Harvard University. Lagomarsino shared her research exploring the similarities between the nervous system of the human brain and the mycorrhizal network of connections between trees. She discussed Susan Simard's work between birch and fir trees, and the connections and sharing of nutrients that was discovered when one tree was placed in shade and a neighboring tree fed Carbon 14.

Pumpkin Palooza188 viewsSaturday’s Pumpkin Palooza hosted by the Marion Council of Aging and the Recreation Department at the Cushing Community Center. Families decorated pumpkins, and children enjoyed face painting, a hula-hoop contest, dancing, a visit from Pine Meadow Farm animals and refreshments supported by Tabor Academy volunteers. Pumpkins were later illuminated, giving the pavilion an eerie weekend presence. Sixty-five families preregistered to participate in the event inspired by Marion citizen Dianne Cosman

An advent wreath is a circle of greenery, marked by four candles that represent the four Sundays of the season of Advent. An additional candle is lit as each new Sunday is celebrated in Advent.
