Nolanfest286 viewsNearing the fifth anniversary of the passing of Nolan Gibbons, Nolanfest 2025 was held at Silvershell Beach this past Saturday evening. Hundreds were in attendance to pay tribute, remember, and support local singers and musical artists. Over 20 different performances occurred at the stage, including The Showstoppers, of which Nolan was a member beginning in 2014 at the age of nine. The event was free but saw numerous donations to the Nolan Gibbons Memorial Fund which goes towards supporting artists through

Marion Natural History Museum285 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's July Coastal Exploration group had a fun week exploring some of Marion's natural areas. We examined green frog tadpoles and a frog metamorphosis, were invited to explore Ram Island, visited the donkeys and learned about filter feeders, including some of the largest ones like whales. The students had a chance to take a close look at some of the artifacts he's found in his backyard and were shown how to use a metal detector to help find some of these items.

Tidelines283 viewsOn May 24, the Marion Art Center opened its newest exhibit by Peter Stone titled “Tidelines.” Stone is a teacher, a philosopher of all things ecological, and a masterful artist. The paintings evoke nature’s many moods through tonal interpretations. The exhibit is open until June 15. On June 7, Stone will give a gallery talk at 11:00 am. Marion Natural History Museum283 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s after school group wishes to thank Michael and Hannah Moore for allowing us to explore their wonderful island. We learned how to recognize different shellfish and crabs, as well as some of the various salt marsh plants. We also had fun visiting with a couple of friendly donkeys during our exploration. Thank you for sharing this experience with our group. Museum open hours are Wednesday and Friday all day as well as some Saturday hours (please call ahead first).

Timeless Tunes, Tales and Tributes shows are scheduled for Friday, September 5, and Saturday, September 6, at 7:30 pm and on Sunday, September 7, at 4:00 pm at the Marion Congregational Community Center, 144 Front Street. The Irving Berlin Revue singers include Brad Cardwell, Johnny Ashley, Paul Sardinha, Lyn-Marie Dandineau, Sarah Jackson, Mary Caldwell, and Caroline Blaise.
