Arts in the Park161 viewsThe Marion Art Center’s annual “Arts in the Park” event was greeted by a gorgeous weekend, as cars lined Marion’s streets and visitors strolled through Bicentennial Park, ducking into the shade of white tents to visit the many artisans and their goods. Halloween Parade161 viewsThe streets of Marion were flooded with Halloween Parade participants and attendees, as members of the Sippican Elementary School Band helped the “witches” of the Marion Art Center lead a procession that began at the Music Hall and went down Front Street, up Main Street past the Elizabeth Taber statue and onto Spring Street, where children were met at Town House by staff members handing out candy for the kids. 161 viewsSaturday’s Pumpkin Palooza hosted by the Marion Council of Aging and the Recreation Department at the Cushing Community Center. Families decorated pumpkins, and children enjoyed face painting, a hula-hoop contest, dancing, a visit from Pine Meadow Farm animals and refreshments supported by Tabor Academy volunteers. Pumpkins were later illuminated, giving the pavilion an eerie weekend presence. Sixty-five families preregistered to participate in the event inspired by Marion citizen Dianne Cosman

Marion Natural History Museum161 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s after-school group had fun with hands-on inspections of some of our local amphibian species. We took a look at Green frog tadpoles, Wood frog and salamander egg masses. We also looked at some of our aquatic invertebrates, such as Water boatman, Caddisfly larvae and others that help by breaking down the leaves at the bottom of the pool and starting the forest food chain.
