Marion Fire266 viewsAn attic at 295 Delano Road caught fire on Monday, prompting response from Marion Fire/EMS and mutual aid from Wareham, Mattapoisett and Rochester fire departments. Firefighters cut a hole in the roof and quickly extinguished the fire, preventing further damage. Marion Natural History Museum266 viewsOn November 29, the Marion Natural History Museum community group had fun crafting a distinctive butterfly mobile for the museum, drawing inspiration from the detailed illustrations of Maria Sibylla Merian. In this workshop, the participants combined historical accuracy with modern design to produce a captivating display that will hang above our antique butterfly case. Marion Village Christmas Stroll266 viewsDespite eventual rain, the Marion Village Christmas Stroll was enjoyed by many on Sunday afternoon. The event included musical entertainment by Tri-County musicians, Grades 4 and 5 bands from Sippican Elementary School, Sippican Historical Society carolers and Tabor Academy students, horse-drawn carriage rides, street entertainment, seasonal refreshments courtesy of area merchants, goodie bags from VASE, and crafts for kids. Marion Natural History Museum266 viewsOn February 14, the Marion Natural History Museum afterschool group had a great time dissecting owl pellets. The students located skulls, both rodent and avian, and other assorted bones. After identification and close inspection under microscopes, these were then mounted on project boards to bring home. From pygmy goats to recently shorn alpacas and more, children learned some basic facts about the animals, but better yet for the toddler brigade, was getting up close to the animals. The group has been meeting at the Rochester Council on Aging for years, providing mutual support and guidance as each artist works on their pieces. Marion Veterans Day 266 viewsThe Town of Marion held Veterans Day ceremonies at Old Landing, where Marion resident and retired Navy Captain William J. Hollman gave the keynote address. Presiding was the Benjamin D. Cushing VFW Post 2425 Color Guard. The community also heard from Old Rochester Regional High School freshman James Devoll, who read the Governor's Proclamation, along with Town Administrator Geoff Gorman, Select Board Chairman Norm Hills, Reverend Eric W. Osterday, and the Sippican Elementary School band

Crocodile River Music266 viewsOn Saturday, May 17, as part of Art Week, the Marion Arts Center presented Crocodile River Music performing West African music and dance in Marion's Music Hall to an audience of about 70 people. A few children danced happily along with members of Crocodile River Music during several pieces. For the final piece of the event, almost everyone was up and dancing. The energy was terrific. Nolanfest266 viewsNearing the fifth anniversary of the passing of Nolan Gibbons, Nolanfest 2025 was held at Silvershell Beach this past Saturday evening. Hundreds were in attendance to pay tribute, remember, and support local singers and musical artists. Over 20 different performances occurred at the stage, including The Showstoppers, of which Nolan was a member beginning in 2014 at the age of nine. The event was free but saw numerous donations to the Nolan Gibbons Memorial Fund which goes towards supporting artists through
