Crocodile River Music166 viewsOn Saturday, May 17, as part of Art Week, the Marion Arts Center presented Crocodile River Music performing West African music and dance in Marion's Music Hall to an audience of about 70 people. A few children danced happily along with members of Crocodile River Music during several pieces. For the final piece of the event, almost everyone was up and dancing. The energy was terrific. Marion Natural History Museum165 viewsOn June 8, the Marion Natural History Museum’s afterschool group enjoyed a wonderful trip to Ram Island in Marion. The students watched various crabs in the salt marsh, visited several of the occupied Osprey nests and walked the shoreline looking for shells. We also had the opportunity to visit Clara and Darcy, the Moore’s pet donkeys. Pumpkin Palooza165 viewsSaturday’s Pumpkin Palooza hosted by the Marion Council of Aging and the Recreation Department at the Cushing Community Center. Families decorated pumpkins, and children enjoyed face painting, a hula-hoop contest, dancing, a visit from Pine Meadow Farm animals and refreshments supported by Tabor Academy volunteers. Pumpkins were later illuminated, giving the pavilion an eerie weekend presence. Sixty-five families preregistered to participate in the event inspired by Marion citizen Dianne Cosman

Marion Natural History Museum 165 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum community group and the Nasketucket Bird Club had a wonderful birding walk on November 16 led by Justin Barrett. We were able to identify over 18 different species of birds including belted kingfishers, golden-crowned kinglets, and red-breasted Nuthatches.
