The festival featured live music and words presented by area and national contributors, along with video tributes and a fire show. Arts in the Park287 viewsSeveral hundred people came out to enjoy the annual Arts in the Park fundraiser hosted by the Marion Art Center on July 10. Forty artists who had been invited by a MAC jury to participate featured their crafts and art objects. The jury ensures the quality of the items on display and also gives up-and-coming artisans a platform to showcase their work. Marion Natural History Museum287 viewsOn October 12, the Marion Natural History Museum hosted Chris Reddy, senior scientist at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, who specializes in marine pollution and petroleum geochemistry. Reddy became interested in plastics in 2008 when he worked with Dr. Kara Lavender Law at Sea Education Association to study the distribution and chemical composition of plastic in the North Atlantic Ocean. The students had a chance to take a close look at some of the artifacts he's found in his backyard and were shown how to use a metal detector to help find some of these items.

Halloween Parade287 viewsThe streets of Marion were flooded with Halloween Parade participants and attendees, as members of the Sippican Elementary School Band helped the “witches” of the Marion Art Center lead a procession that began at the Music Hall and went down Front Street, up Main Street past the Elizabeth Taber statue and onto Spring Street, where children were met at Town House by staff members handing out candy for the kids. Our group had a blast making ornaments (and eating junk food) during the event, and everyone brought home an ornament or two to share with the family.
