Marion Art Center 254 viewsOn June 23, the Marion Art Center held its annual Art in Bloom reception. The popular event pairs floral arrangements with paintings in what can to liken to a 3D visual art profusion. This year's art featured the abstract expressions of Pat Warwick, Alyn Carlson and Pat Coomey Thornton. Halloween Parade254 viewsThe streets of Marion were flooded with Halloween Parade participants and attendees, as members of the Sippican Elementary School Band helped the “witches” of the Marion Art Center lead a procession that began at the Music Hall and went down Front Street, up Main Street past the Elizabeth Taber statue and onto Spring Street, where children were met at Town House by staff members handing out candy for the kids. COA Art Exhibit254 viewsThe newest art exhibit at the Marion Council on Aging is both a sublime and exciting partnership between local schools and the COA. Works have been created by students from Sippican Elementary and Old Rochester Regional Junior and Senior high schools. Klim’s style of rapidly applied, single-layer brushstrokes presents the viewer with a sense of fresh breezes guiding the artist’s hand. Marion Natural History Museum254 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s community group learned to identify all types of frogs that can be found in Massachusetts. We also heard the different calls of the frogs from the Wood Frog’s “quack” to the Green Frog’s banjo “twang.” To register for frog watch training you may contact the Roger Williams Park and Zoo.
