Sippican Elementary Car Wash226 viewsSippican Elementary sixth graders turned Saturday's car wash into a fire engine wash, creating a waterfall of suds and having the kind of fun kids normally associate with what happens on the weekends before school is back in session. Organized by Volunteers at Sippican Elementary (VASE), the school's 501(c)(3) non-profit parent-teacher organization, the event held at the Marion school's bus loop off Main Street raised money for the students' mountain classroom trip, a three-day excursion planned for June 20

Pumpkin Palooza226 viewsSaturday’s Pumpkin Palooza hosted by the Marion Council of Aging and the Recreation Department at the Cushing Community Center. Families decorated pumpkins, and children enjoyed face painting, a hula-hoop contest, dancing, a visit from Pine Meadow Farm animals and refreshments supported by Tabor Academy volunteers. Pumpkins were later illuminated, giving the pavilion an eerie weekend presence. Sixty-five families preregistered to participate in the event inspired by Marion citizen Dianne Cosman

Marion Natural History Museum226 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum recently held a workshop on the many apps available to help people identify birds in the field. Justin Barrett, Nasketucket Bird Club president and museum board member, went over how best to use apps from Audubon, Cornell, Sibley and many others. We also learned how to record a bird or birds and have each one identified by call simultaneously. The museum wishes to thank Justin for his interesting presentation, and we look forward to our next walk

The jury-vetted assemblage of artisans surrounded the Elizabeth Taber statue and welcomed shoppers for their goods, while attendees also enjoyed goodies from a nearby food truck and live entertainment from the doorsteps of the MAC. Marion Natural History Museum226 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum wishes to thank Officer David Wilson for the trip to view Bird Island to watch some of the unique birds that need the island for nesting. We saw plenty of terns catching fish and an Osprey hover and dive close to Ram Island. Officer Wilson also spent the time to show our kids how to tie up the boat we used and then helped us explore every inch of the patrol boat.
