Town Tour561 viewsAfter being introduced in class to the history, geography, and government of Marion, third graders from Sippican School recently took a walking tour of Marion village during their last week of school.
Students visited many historical sites such as the Marion Townhouse (formerly Tabor Academy), Marion General Store, and the Sippican Historical Society. They also saw the Marion Music Hall, Art Center, Women's Club (formerly Handy's Tavern), Beverly Yacht Club, and several private homes.

Marion Natural History Museum561 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool group enjoyed learning about minerals and fossils with geologist Jim Pierson. The group also compared various artifacts such as relative sizes of Megaladon teeth versus White Shark, and took a look at many examples of fossils such as fish, leaves, and the tiny tracks of a trilobite. Romance and Dance560 viewsFlutist and Marion resident Wendy Rolfe and pianist Deborah DeWolf Emery will perform a tea-time concert titled “Romance & Dance!” at the First Congregational Church of Marion on Saturday, January 26 beginning at 5:00 pm. The program will feature lively tangos, Brazilian dances, lyrical romances, and Eastern European folk rhythms by world-renowned performers. Suggested donations at the door of $8 ($4 for students) will benefit the music program at the First Congregational Church.
