Marion Art Center264 viewsThe Marion Art Center opened its latest exhibit on Saturday featuring the pastel artistry of partners Janet Schwartz and Dave Kaphammer. For years, Kaphammer has been honing his talent for working in a medium that most other artists consider difficult: pastels. Through his vision for finding interesting subjects like abandoned tractors in a field or the way sunlight plays in shadows at the end of an afternoon, we are invited to enter his world of color and shape.

Marion Natural History Museum263 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool group had a wonderful time setting off their rockets on June 9. Despite the blistering hot weather, the rockets were all successfully launched, and the parachutes deployed (most of the time). The students had built their rockets at home before the program with a YouTube video created by the program's presenter, Mike Cronin.

Textile artist Paula Stebbins Becker believes that the works connect memories to visual works equally in complexity to the human mind. Marion Natural History Museum263 viewsOn February 14, the Marion Natural History Museum afterschool group had a great time dissecting owl pellets. The students located skulls, both rodent and avian, and other assorted bones. After identification and close inspection under microscopes, these were then mounted on project boards to bring home.
