Marion Natural History Museum196 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum afterschool group enjoyed learning about Marion's vernal pools last week. We had a chance to handle some wood frog eggs, take a close look at some aquatic invertebrates, and learn about the temporary nature of these important habitats. All specimens were returned safely to their homes after the program. The museum will be open during April vacation week for crafts and exploration. Marion Natural History Museum195 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool group had a wonderful time setting off their rockets on June 9. Despite the blistering hot weather, the rockets were all successfully launched, and the parachutes deployed (most of the time). The students had built their rockets at home before the program with a YouTube video created by the program's presenter, Mike Cronin.

Marion 4th of July Parade195 viewsMarion Town Administrator Jay McGrail and Select Board members Norm Hills, John Waterman, and Randy Parker walked the Independence Day parade route on Monday morning along with veterans, marching bands, Boy and Girl Scout troops, youth baseball teams, decorated floats, fire engines, and a convoy of antique cars. Beginning at the Town House, the parade route went up Spring Street, then east on Route 6 before going right onto Front Street all the way down to Main Street and back up to Spring. Photos by Ryan F

Nolan Fest195 viewsThe first-ever Nolan Fest was held on July 11 at Silvershell Beach in Marion to honor the late Nolan Gibbons, who tragically passed away on August 18, 2020. The festival featured live music and words presented by area and national contributors, along with video tributes and a fire show. Saint Gabriel's Church195 viewsAfter Sunday's 10:00 am service at Saint Gabriel's Church in Marion, families and friends used the coffee hour to make Advent wreaths. Grandchildren, grandparents, couples and kids all had fun making their wreaths. An Advent wreath is a circle of greenery with four candles. The candles represent the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. As it was the first Sunday of Advent, so we lit the first candle.
