Marion Natural History Museum359 viewsOn November 29, the Marion Natural History Museum community group had fun crafting a distinctive butterfly mobile for the museum, drawing inspiration from the detailed illustrations of Maria Sibylla Merian. In this workshop, the participants combined historical accuracy with modern design to produce a captivating display that will hang above our antique butterfly case. Peter specializes in studying and taking photos of these rarely seen objects from his home in Rochester, and the kids were happy to share their astronomical insights with the group. First Congregational Church of Marion Summer Fair359 viewsThe First Congregational Church of Marion Summer Fair was held on July 27 with an effort to raise funds for the restoration of its clock tower. Main Street was closed to traffic so visitors could enjoy several booths full of goods for sale, along with sports equipment, while visiting the Penny Pinchers’ Exchange, a lobster roll or a burger or dog from the grill. Marion Natural History Museum359 viewsAfter learning how to build a snake hibernaculum, a beaver lodge, and a bear den, the group tried their hand at creating miniatures for museum display. The beaver lodge was tested to see if it held water back and still kept the lodge dry inside. It was a huge success!
