Do-Si-Do in Marion610 viewsOn Sunday, September 14, the first of what is hoped to be an annual series of Marion Square Dances was held inside the Marion Community Center. Although initially slated to take place in the parking lot adjacent to the Marion General Store, the weekend’s rainy weather forced the event indoors. Caller Jim Schell of Lakeville had veteran square dancers and novices alike promenading, allemanding, bowing to their partners and do-si-doing with ease. (Photo by Robert Chiarito).

SLT Oyster Fest 610 viewsThe Sippican Lands Trust’s Beer and Oyster Fest fundraiser was a hit despite the threat of approaching Hurricane Dorian, which was replaced with blue skies just in time, and holding the event earlier in the day mitigated the guests’ exposure to EEE-carrying mosquitos. The SLT sold 214 tickets and was pleased with the turnout. Photos by Shawn Sweet and Lauren Boucher.

Marion Natural History Museum610 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum's afterschool group enjoyed learning about our local birds in anticipation of the upcoming "Great Backyard Bird Count" event on February 14-17. The GBBC is a great citizen-science initiative to gauge how our bird species are doing, and all it takes is 15 minutes to count the number of species and how many of each, and submit your findings to Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) website: birdcount.org.
