Elizabeth Taber Statue402 viewsOn July 14, work began on the Elizabeth Taber Statue site at Bicentennial Park in Marion. The site will include granite steppers, concrete paving, lighting, two wooden benches and a granite bench for Elizabeth to sit on. There will be room on either side of the granite bench for folks to sit and thank Elizabeth for all that she did for Marion. Osprey Marsh Accessible Boardwalk402 viewsDespite a downpour perfectly timed for its planned gathering on Friday off Point Road in Marion, the Sippican Lands Trust celebrated the completion of the new Osprey Marsh Accessible Boardwalk. Executive Director Jim Bride and president Alan Harris held a live Zoom meeting for those who could not attend, and some of the donors for the project assisted in the ribbon-cutting. Marion Natural History Museum 402 viewsLast week, the Marion Natural History Museum welcomed Bethany Jakubson of Amazing Animal Ambassadors. Bethany brought in some of her most adorable mammals, including a Fennec Fox (native to Africa), a Tenrec (native to Madagascar), a Hedgehog named Peter Quill, a Chinchilla and a skunk. Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run 401 views Sunday, May 4 was a perfect day for a fun run through Marion, and about 200 people turned out to participate in VASE’s second annual Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run to raise money for educational programs at Sippican Elementary School. VASE member Diana Martin organized the event, with the support of about 12 volunteers who assisted that morning in making sure the two races went off without a hitch. Photo by Felix Perez
