Forty artists who had been invited by a MAC jury to participate featured their crafts and art objects. Marion Art Center323 views“Curiosity” by painter Jane Egan is a petite framed oil on canvas. It is joy in the form of a playful cow close-up. The technique of layering oils to create a realistic tactile surface gives the curious bovine a more realistic appearance. This engaging piece and many more are featured in the Marion Art Center’s 2022 Winter Members Show on exhibit through February 11. Photo by Marilou Newell

Marion Natural History Museum322 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum hosted a Nature Journaling program on October 3 with artist Tricia Cassidy. We enjoyed beautiful weather while hearing about a variety of strategies to allow everyone, even the most insecure participants, to be able to express the beauty of the natural environment on paper. We enjoyed several loosening-up exercises by playing with time constraints, not looking at the paper while drawing the subject, and framing our subject so as not to get too confused with the big picture.
